Aston Villa news: Turkish club’s manager discusses transfer of Aston Villa ace

Aston Villa full-back Aly Cissokho is nearing a move to newly promoted Super Lig outfit Yeni Malatyaspor.

Club sporting director Ali Ravci revealed yesterday that Cissokho has agreed personal terms with Malatyaspor and that all that remains is for the clubs to iron out a few details.

“There are a few minor issues to resolve with Aston Villa and then the transfer will go ahead,” he said following training at the Duzce Topuk Yayla grounds.

Malatyaspor manager Ertugrul Saglam has also confirmed that they are on the verge of completing the deal.

Speaking following training at the Topuk Yayla grounds Saglam gave an update on the transfer situation.

“We are hoping to make another one or two transfers to the defence,” Saglam said.

“You know about the Cissokho deal and how close we are to completing the transfer.

“We have reached the final point.”

Malatyaspor were promoted to the top-tier this season and are coached by Saglam who won the Super Lig with Bursaspor in 2009.

Saglam is the only manager in the history of the Super Lig to have won a league title with a team other than Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray or Trabzonspor.

Cissokho has 12 months remaining on his Villa contract but the Championship outfit do not have plans for him over the 2017-18 campaign.

Villa loaned the 29-year-old out to Olympiakos last season and he ended up lifting the Greek title.
