The Rojiblancos aim to continue penetrating the Turkish market according to club CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín.

“Atletico Madrid is well known in Turkey thanks to Arda Turan, our best ambassador. By creating an academy where young talented Turks can perfect their integral development as footballers with our model we expect our brand to continue to grow in the country,” Marin revealed on the official Atletico Madrid club website.

The academy would be the first major project setup by Atleti in Turkey since the arrival of Arda Turan.

Atleti increased their Turkish fanbase following the transfer and success of Turan.

Turan became the first Turkish born player to win the La Liga as Atleti won their first league title since 1996 last season.

The Turkish international has lifted the La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Europa League, European Super Cup and reached the Champions League final since joining the Madrid based club.
