Calhanoglu told Lig TV: “Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs, it would be difficult to turn them down.”

United were reported to have sent scouts to keep tabs on Calhanoglu last December according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea recently after Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik quoted him as saying: “God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season.”

A source close to the player has revealed to Turkish-Football that both United and Chelsea were monitoring him closely until his suspension.

Calhanoglu’s agent Bektas Demirtas recently revealed that his client could leave if his valuation is met.

“Hakan is currently contracted to Leverkusen for another three years,” Demirtas told Kicker.

“If there is an offer which matches Bayer’s valuation and which suits Hakan, then my client is open to leave. However, the final decision lies with the club.”

The Turkish international had seven goals and seven assists in 22 appearances for Bayer until his suspension.

Calhanoglu plays as an attacking midfielder, capable of playing out wide or centrally and is renowned for his set-piece ability.
