Barcelona prepare appeal over Arda Turan case at Cas

Barcelona are set to a lunch an appeal in their bid to register Turkey midfielder Arda Turan to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The BBC reports that the La Liga champions are unhappy with FIFA’s decision to refuse permission to register Turan following a long term injury to Rafinha.

Barcelona are unable to play Turan, 28, under a Fifa ban for breaking transfer rules.

Turan has not played for his club since joining from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal over the summer transfer window but it did not stop him putting on an impressive performance during the international break.

Turkey beat Iceland 1-0 to qualify directly for the 2016 European Championships in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Just to recap Turkey needed to win while Kazakhstan had to beat Latvia to book a direct place in the tournament.

The game was goalless going into the last minute of the game and to make matters worse Gokhan Tore had reduced Turkey to 10 men.

Galatasaray captain Selcuk Inan ended up scoring the winning goal on 89 minutes to take Turkey through directly.
