Barcelona star Arda Turan has revealed that he could quit Turkey following a disappointing start to his Euro 2016 campaign according to Marca.

The Spanish sports newspaper revealed that Turan is considering quitting the national side after being booed by his own fans during the national team clash against Spain on Friday 17 June.

Turan was jeered by his own fans mid-way through the game after a poor display and responded by giving the supporters the thumbs up – which only aggravated them further.

Turan responded to his critics after the game by claiming he does not need to prove anything to anyone.

“I have nothing to prove,” Turan said.

“I have worn this shirt more than 90 times and the times I’ve played badly can be counted on the fingers of one hand.”

Turan has been criticised for his performances but has also allegedly been in a dispute with the Turkish Football Federation over player bonuses for playing for the national team – which has not gone down well with fans.

Turkey lost their opening two-games in Group D but still have a chance to book a place in the next round with a win against Czech Republic – depending on results from the other groups.
