Arda Turan got his Barcelona career off to a terrific start with his side winning both games he has started in and scoring eight goals in the process – he also happened to provide an assist in 4-0 win over Granada on his La Liga debut.

Beşiktaş star Oğuzhan Özyakup revealed that Turan has done a fantastic service to Turkish footballers in opening up doors to them.

“Arda Turan has opened up the doors to Europe for Turkish footballers I want to follow in his footsteps,” Özyakup said in a recent interview with Turkish newspaper Milliyet.

Turan joined Barcelona on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid over the summer but had to wait six-months before making his debut due to the FIFA transfer ban imposed on the club.

The Turkish international has won every domestic title in Turkey and Spain. The only European competition trophy the bearded winger has yet to win is the Champions League although he was part of the Atleti side that reached the 2014 final.

Özyakup has also had a pretty impressive season establishing himself as the creative brains of Turkish Super League leaders Beşiktaş.
