Barcelona star Arda Turan holds early transfer talks with Chelsea
Barcelona star Arda Turan has held early talks with Chelsea over a possible summer move, according to Turkish sports newspaper Fotomac.
Per-the-source, Turan spent one and a half days in London last week and met with Chelsea officials.
Fotomac go onto state that Turan missed his teammate Neymar’s birthday in order to make the trip.
The Turkey international was pictured alongside Chelsea’s Diego Costa in a London restaurant during his latest trip to London.
Costa and Turan are of course no strangers and were teammates at Atletico Madrid.
The duo lifted the La Liga title together at Atleti and made it to the UEFA Champions League final.
Costa has made no secret of his desire to play alongside Turan again in the past. In an interview with the Turkish newspaper Bugun (2015) Costa stated: “I would really like to be reunited with him [Arda Turan] it would be fantastic because he is a player that makes my job easier.”
This is not the first Turan has been linked with a move to Chelsea. Most recently as last summer, The Sun reported that the Blues and Arsenal both wanted to sign Turan.
However, rumours of Turan leaving were denied by his agent Ahmet Bulut who told Turkish-Football and Guardian reporter Emre Sarigul that his client was happy at Barca and that had no intention of leaving.
“The interest [in Arda] is normal but the rumours saying he is leaving Barcelona are false, he is happy at the club,” the agent, Ahmet Bulut,
Turan has been in impressive form for Barcelona this season with seven assists and 13 goals in 27 apperances.
The 30-year-old was left out of Barcelona’s squad which will take on PSG in the UEFA Champions League this week due to injury.
