Barcelona star Arda Turan made to stand on a chair and speak Spanish

Arda Turan underwent his initiation into the Barcelona squad on Sunday night according to the Spanish newspaper Sport.

The Catalan club have a tradition of putting new additions to the squad though a challenge to help team cohesion.

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta and vice captain Sergio Busquets asked new transfers Turan and Aleix Vidal to initiate themselves after dinner.

Turan was made to stand on a chair and speak Spanish for one minute. The Turkish international has failed to learn the language despite spending four years at Atletico Madrid.

According to the report the majority of the players, staff and coaches present were unable to understand Turan’s minute long speech but gave him the benefit of the doubt and applauded his efforts.

The Turkish international recently completed his £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona. Turan signed a five-year deal with the La Liga champions reported to be worth £6 million per-season.

The 26-year-old provided six assists and scored three goals in 46 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
