Turan grew up in the working class district of Bayrampaşa and regularly returns to the area.

The Turkish international admitted that growing up in a rough neighbourhood taught him responsibilities and toughened him up at a young age.

“The street teaches you a lot, it teaches you to keep your word, to man up, the street has its own rules, its own laws and that is how I grew up,” Turan stated.

Turan joined Barcelona on a £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid but will be unable to play until at least January.

Barcelona are currently serving a transfer ban which restricts the club from registering new signings until the new year.

The Turkish international will not be allowed to play a professional game for Barcelona until the transfer ban is served and that led to speculation that he could be leaving on loan.

Turan provided six assists and scored three goals in 46 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
