Barcelona team news: Arda Turan named in 18-man squad but MSN rested

Barcelona take on Espanyol on Tuesday night in the Catalunya Super Cup which will be played in Tarragona.

Barca boss Luis Enrique has decided to rest the MSN – Messi, Neymar and Suarez – as well as Ter Stegen, Rakitic, Sergio, Mascherano, Digne, Sergi Roberto, Umtiti.

The reigning La Liga champions will also be without Pique, Iniesta, Jordi Alba, Cillessen and Aleix Vidal due to injury leaving the head coach short of options.

In other Barcelona team news Turkish international Arda Turan has been included in the squad after missing the weekend victory over Valencia in the league due to a shoulder injury.

Turan will be included in the 18-man squad ahead of Tuesday’s clash alongside several Barca B players including Masip, Denis, Arda, Paco Alcácer, André Gomes, Mathieu, José Suárez, Palencia, Mujica, Nili, Marlon, Moisés, Martínez, Sarsanedas, Aleñá, Alfaro, Gumbau and Carbonell.

The 29-year-old midfielder may be drafted in to fill in for Iniesta in the league as the Spanish international has been ruled out for the next six-eight weeks with injury.

The versatile midfielder has played in every position in the final third and midfield as well as right-back for Barca this season.

Barcelona will take on Granada for their next La Liga game over the weekend.
