Barcelona team news: Luis Enrique calls upon four academy players ahead of Atletico Madrid clash

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is facing a selection headache ahead of this weekends encounter with Atletico Madrid.

According to the Spanish outlet AS, the 46-year-old tactician has had to call four academy players up to the senior side.

Per the source, Nili, Martinez, Carbonell and Abeledo all participated in first team training today.

AS goes onto state that Nili may even be included in Barcelona’s match day squad. Barcelona currently have no alternative for right-back Roberto due to Alex Vidal’s long-term injury.

Luis Enrique will also be unable to call upon the experinced Argentine centre-back Javier Mascherano due a hamstring problem.

In other Barcelona team news, Arda Turan returned to first team training on Thursday and expected to to be avalible for selection this weekend.

The Turkey international missed out on Barca’s previous two games due to a groin injury.

Barcelona will continue preparation’s for this weekends clash with Atleti until approximately 15.00 GMT on Saturday afternoon before flying to Madrid the night before the game.

The reigning La Liga champions sit in second place, a point behind leaders Real Madrid.
