Barcelona team news: Luis Enrique given injury boost as star midfielder Arda Turan returns

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was given an injury boost after Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan returned to first team training on Monday morning after recovering from an injury.

Spanish sports newspaper Sport reported that Turan trained with the team after missing the past three games with a muscle injury.

Per the source, Turan should be available for the La Liga clash against Sporting Gijon on Wednesday 1 March.

The Turkish international midfielder was expected to return for the Atletico Madrid clash over the weekend but was left out of the match day squad.

Barcelona temporarily went top of the table after beating Atleti 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon stadium but Real Madrid beat Villarreal to move back into first place.

Turan has been in impressive form this season scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions for Barca.

Enrique still has a few injury concerns going into the Sporting clash. Jeremy Mathieu and Aleix Vidal are definitely out whilst Javier Mascherano remains an injury doubt.

There were rumours that the Barca boss has been experimenting with a 4-2-3-1 setup but he decided to stick with the 4-3-3 his side have become accustomed to playing.

Barcelona could move back into first place in the league with a victory over Sporting but Real would have two matches in hand.
