Reigning Turkish Super League champions Galatasaray won their third consecutive game in a row to move into first place in the league.
The Lions kept their second clean sheet of the season in the process but could into third place depending on the results from the Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş games today.
Lukas Podolski opened the scoring on 77 minutes after being setup by Bilal Kısa who scored his first Champions League goal midweek against Astana.
Former Arsenal striker Podolski now has four goals in six league games for the Lions this season.
Wesley Sneijder setup Umut Bulut for the Istanbul giants second goal just seven minutes later which wrapped up all three points.
Galatasaray take on Ankara based Gençlerbirliği next in the Super League while face newly promoted Osmanlıspor also in Ankara.
