Başakşehir are aiming to finish the Süper Lig 2014-15 season in the top four according to defender Mahmut Tekdemir.

“Our goal is to reach European competition next season, it would be a huge opportunity for us, nobody gave us a chance,” Tekdemir told Eurosport TR.

Tekdemir also underlined that while Beşiktaş are favourites and in the title race nobody should underestimate Başakşehir.

“Beşiktaş are playing for the league title but we have our own goals and we will not be pushovers,” he added.

The 27-year-old defender was called up for the Turkish national team for the first time over the international week.

Tekdemir did not feature in the Euro 2016 Group A qualifier against the Netherlands but he did start against Luxembourg.

Başakşehir have conceded the fewest goals in the league. The Istanbul minnows have only let in 18 league in total this season.

The Istanbul based side have only conceded eight goals on the road this season – the fewest conceded in the league.

Başakşehir have also kept 13 clean sheets in the league this season. The Istanbul based side have one of the best defensive records in Europe.
