Beşiktaş board member Ahmet Ürkmezgil has underlined that the club are not considering getting rid of Tolga Zengin.

Zengin has been heavily criticised following a string  of poor performances and consistent injury problems.

“Tolga is going through a tough time but let us not forget he has captained this team and is our player, we believe he will continue to serve us well in the future,” Ürkmezgil told Beşiktaş Tv.

Zengin sustained a muscle tear injury during the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe.

The Turkish international keeper had only just recovered from a previous injury.

The Turkish international has conceded 23 goals and kept nine clean sheets in 29 appearances in all competitions for Beşiktaş this season.

Zengin has conceded a total of 58 goals and kept 23 clean sheets for the Black Eagles since joining.

Beşiktaş will take on Başakşehir next in the Süper Lig following the international break.
