The only time the two sides met before was in the 2006-07 UEFA Cup group stages. Beşiktaş were coached by Jean Tigana and beat Emilio Ferreira’s Club Brugge 2-1 at the İnönü Stadium.

The loss against Club Brugge in the first leg was the Black Eagles first against Belgium opposition in European competition.

Beşiktaş have won twice, drawn twice and lost once against Belgium sides. The Eagles are however unbeaten against Belgium opposition at home.

The Turkish giants have not actually lost at home in European competition this season. However, Club Brugge have yet to lose at all in Europe this season.

Club Brugge’s only previous game in Turkey ended in a goalless draw against Galatasaray in the 2002-03 Champions League group stage.

Beşiktaş will be celebrating their 112th anniversary today and the club are expecting the Atatürk Olympic stadium to reach maximum capacity.
