Besiktas confirm talks with Gremio defender Rhodolfo

Besiktas have confirmed that talks with Gremio centre-back Luiz Rhodolfo are underway.

The Istanbul based club released a statement to the Istanbul stock exchange stating that negotiations for the Brazilian defender had begun.

The statement reads, “Besiktas are in talks with Luiz Rhodolfo and his club Gremio.”

Rhodolfo has made ten appearances for Gremio in the Brazilian Serie A this season. The 28-year-old is expected to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow at 21:45 (local time).

The powerful defender has previously played for São Paulo, Atlético-PR and Paranaense.

The Istanbul giants recently completed the transfer of Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma, Andreas Beck and Dusko Tosic.

Beşiktaş are also in the market for a new striker after selling Demba Ba to Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua for €14 million last month.

The Black Eagles finished last season in third-place and booked a place in the Europa League group stages.
