Besiktas have released an official statement denying making an offer for Kasimpasa winger Ryan Babel.
The statement read: “The transfer rumour linking Besiktas with Babel is false we have not been in talks with his agent or made an offer.”
Babel’s agent Winnie Haatrecht was quoted as saying that Besiktas had put forward a deal but that they would have to increase their offer in order to persuade his client to join.
“Besiktas put forward a proposal for Babel but they will have to offer better terms,” Haatrecht was quoted as saying by Radyospor.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been closely linked with the Black Eagles over the last week and he only has one year remaining on his contract.
The Dutch international scored a total of 22 goals in 146 appearances for Liverpool between 2007-11 and later joined Kasımpaşa on a free transfer from Ajax in 2013.
Babel has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 29 appearances for the Süper Lig outfit this season. Babel has 14 goals and 12 assists in 59 appearances for Kasimpasa in all competitions.
The Black Eagles finished the league in third place and will play in the Europa League group stages next season.
