The Black Eagles rejected claims that Lucescu will be replacing Slaven Bilic and underlined that the club are fully behind the Croatian manager.

Bilic has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League next season.

The Croatian manager spent four years in England during his playing career. The former Croatia national team coach played for West Ham United and Everton.

Lucescu previously managed Beşiktaş and won the Süper Lig as Black Eagles head coach in 2002-03.

The Romanian manager has a lot of experience coaching in Turkey and has also been closely linked with a move to Fenerbahçe.

Beşiktaş are currently second in the Süper Lig, just one point behind league leaders Galatasaray.

The Black Eagles will take on Istanbul minnows Başakşehir next on Monday.
