Besiktas recorded a 2-1 victory over their Istanbul rivals Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League today.

The Eagles returned to the top of the table following an impressive win which saw them come from behind.

Wesley Sneijder put the visitors ahead following a goalkeeping error from Günay Güvenç.

However, Galatasaray’s lead did not last long as Mario Gomez struck back quickly with a driven shot into the bottom corner.

Gokhan Tore scored the games winning goal which puts the Eagles back in pole position.

Galatasaray have slipped down to forth place with 26 points in 15 games – equal with Basaksehir and Kasimpasa.

Mustafa Denizli’s side take on an in-form Akhisar Belediyespor next weekend. Besiktas travel to Ankara to take on Osmanlispor in the next round of games.

The Black eagles have won 11, lost two and drawn two games this season.
