Besiktas set to make Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel offer

Beşiktaş are set to make Liverpool defender an offer Martin Skrtel according to the Milliyet newspaper.

Skrtel recently confirmed that he will consider his options after rejecting Liverpool’s contract extension according the Guardian.

“The contract, which was presented to me, makes me uneasy, so I did not sign it,” Skrtel told the Slovakian outlet Aktualne.

There has been some speculation about the interest of other clubs for my person, but they are currently being addressed.”

Beşiktaş were reported to have held talks with Skrtel’s representatives recently according to Lig TV

The Reds signed the Slovakian international from Zenit St. Petersburg back in 2008 and the experienced defender is now closing on 300 appearances for the Premier League giants.

The 31-year-old centre-back made 48 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season and still has a year left on his contract.

Beşiktaş finished the Turkish Super Lig season in third place and will play in the Europa League next season. The Black Eagles are currently without a manager following the resignation of Slaven Bilic but Şenol Güneş has been closely linked with the Istanbul giants.
