Bilic – 'Fans can love you one minute and hate you the next'

Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic underlined that the media and fans change their opinion very quickly in Turkey.

“After we beat Bursaspor I became a cult figure, after our performance against Liverpool we were great when we lost to Eskişehirspor I got stoned, fans can love you one minute and hate you the next” Bilic told Bosnian television station BHT.

Beşiktaş are currently second in the Süper Lig, just one point behind league leaders Galatasaray.

The Black Eagles reached the Europa League Last 16 beating Tottenham and Liverpool along the way but Bilic’s side were eventually dumped out by Club Brugge.

Beşiktaş played English opposition six times this season. The Eagles lost out 1-0 on aggregate against Arsenal in the Champions League play-offs.

The Eagles drew against Tottenham in London and beat Spurs 1-0 in Istanbul. Beşiktaş also beat Liverpool 1-0 at the Atatürk Olympic stadium to secure a place in the Europa League Last 16.

Bilic has been praised for developing players such as Gökhan Töre, Veli Kavlak, Necip Uysal and Olcay Şahan.

The Croatian manager has also been criticised for failing to beat Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe since taking over.

The Black Eagles will take on Istanbul minnows Başakşehir next on Monday.
