Bilic admitted his side struggled in the first half but thought Beşiktaş deserved to win the game based on their second half performance.

“There was only one team on the pitch in the second half to be fair,” he added.

The Croatian manager also admitted he was pleased to beat English opposition again.

“It is a great feeling, a well deserved win and its a historic night for our club and whole Turkey because you know it is prestigious to beat English teams,” Bilic said.

Beşiktaş have not conceded lots against English opposition at home in European competition this season and have yet to concede a goal against Premier League sides.

The Black Eagles held Arsenal to a goalless draw in Istanbul, beat Tottenham in the Europa League group stages and beat Liverpool in the Round of 32.
