Birmingham City transfer news: Nigeria international transfer looks in doubt after turning up for training

Birmingham City transfer target Ogenyi Onazi has returned to training for Trabzonspor.

The Nigeria international has been closely linked with a move to Birmingham City in recent weeks.

According to the daily newspaper Hurriyet, Onazi has been recalled to first-team training and is available for this weekend’s clash with Fenerbahce.

Fotomac recently reported that Birmingham had agreed a €4.5 million deal with Trabzonspor to sign Onazi. However, work permit issues have held up the transfer.

The Nigeria international has stated that he is keen on a move to Birmingham City.

“It’s almost a done deal. It would be a new challenge for me,” Onazi told AOIFootball.com.

“This club wants to return to EPL, they also want to sign good players that will ensure the promotion of the team back to the Premier League.

“I want to be part of the group.”

Onazi made the move to Trabzonspor just 12 months ago from Lazio. The Nigeria international has three-years remaining on his contract with the Black Sea Storm.

Trabzonspor kicked off their Turkish Super League season with a 2-1 victory over Konyaspor last weekend.

Onazi has registered 41 caps for the Nigeria national team so far. The former Inter midfielder scored two goals and provided one assist in 38 appearances for Trabzonspor last season.
