Club Brugge forward Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo delighted with brace against Beşiktaş in the Europa League Last 16 second-leg game at the Atatürk Olympic stadium.

“[Coming off the bench to score twice] felt good for me. It was a difficult game in the first half and then in the second half we saw that there were more space and I came in and I tried to do my best, I tried to do everything and I scored two goals,” Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo told the official UEFA website.

Club Brugge ended up winning the game 3-1 and went through to the Europa League quarter-finals 5-2 on aggregate.

Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo underlined that his side showed great character in being able to come back after Beşiktaş took the lead.

“Yes we showed character [to complete the comeback]. After conceding the goal, we knew it was not finished and we go for it. That’s why we keep it going during the game, I think the team did it well,” he added.

Beşiktaş blew a one goal lead in home and away against the Belgium giants.

Club Brugge remain unbeaten in European competition this season and became the first side to beat Beşiktaş in Istanbul.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool had all failed to beat Beşiktaş at the Atatürk Olympic stadium this season.

League leaders Beşiktaş take on Fenerbahçe next in the Istanbul derby.
