Galatasaray striker Burak Yılmaz has blamed himself for suffering an injury during the Lions 2-0 win over Rizespor.

Yılmaz had to be come off injured just three minutes after being substituted on by manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu.

“I felt fine at the time, I pleaded with the manager to let me play despite him advising me not to, I had obviously not fully recovered and ended up aggravating my existing injury,” Burak told GS TV.

Yılmaz had sustained an injury in the International Royal Cup friendly tournament last week and was advised to rest.

The Turkish international striker is expected to miss next weeks game against Bursaspor.

Yılmaz has 11 Süper Lig goals this season, the 29-year-old striker is the joint leading goal scorer in the league alongside Fernandao of Bursaspor and Gekas of Akhisar.

The Turkish international joined Galatasaray from Trabzonspor for €5 million in 2012.

Yılmaz finished his first season at Galatasaray as the leagues leading goalscorer for the second year in a row with 24 goals in 30 appearances.
