Yılmaz initially sustained an injury in the International Royal Cup friendly tournament during the winter break.

The Turkish international was recommended to rest by the team doctors but Yılmaz urged Hamzoğlu to let him play against Rizespor last weekend.

Galatasaray beat Rizespor 2-0 but Yılmaz ended up getting injured three minutes after his introduction to the game.

The 29-year-old striker has 11 Süper Lig goals this season and 13 in all competitions.

Yılmaz is the joint highest goalscorer in the league alongside Gekas of Akhisar, Oscar Cardozo of Trabzonspor and Fernandao of Bursaspor.

Galatasaray are currently third in the league, just one point behind leaders Fenerbahçe and behind second place Beşiktaş on goal difference.
