The Turkish international defender will undergo tests in Istanbul to determine the severity of his injury.

Yılmaz suffered an injury in the opening game of the friendly tournament against River Plate.

Galatasaray released a statement on their official website confirming Yılmaz’s injury.

The statement read: “Burak Yılmaz has suffered an injury to his right hamstring.”

Yılmaz has been Galatasaray’s most in form striker this season, converting 13 goals and providing three assists this season.

The Lions also released a statement regarding the injury status of Günter.

The statement read: “Koray Günter has sustained an injury to his right hamstring.”

Galatasaray could be left with just one senior defender depending on how long Kaya and Günter are out for.

Aurelian Chedjou is currently on international duty with Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations Cup leaving Hakan Balta as the only available defender.
