Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored the winning goal in Turkey’s 2-1 win over Luxembourg.

Çalhanoğlu scored his first goal for the Turkish national side but admitted it was tough playing on the Josy Barthel stadium pitch.

“It was tough playing on a pitch like this, we are not used to it but I am happy to have done my part,” Çalhanoğlu told NTV Spor.

Çalhanoğlu was called up to the national team for the first time since his altercation with Gökhan Töre.

Ömer Toprak, Çalhanoğlu and Töre were involved in an altercation last year which resulted in a gun being pulled on the Bayer duo.

Töre was reported to have had a fight with a friend of Toprak while a friend of the Beşiktaş winger held a gun to both Bayer players.

Çalhanoğlu has scored ten times and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Bayer Leverkusen this season.

The Turkish international was named best young player of the 2013/14 season by leading German football magazine 11 Freunde.
