Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla revealed that he wants to keep playing in a central attacking midfield position despite the recovery of Mesut Özil.

Cazorla played in a wide attacking role in the early part of the season but scored four goals and provided two assists playing in the central role he has occupied since December.

The recovery of Özil could see Cazorla pushed out to a wider role but the Spanish international hopes he will be able to keep his position.

“I have more space [in the middle], more possibilities to score and assist, and I like this position very much,” Cazorla told the official Arsenal website.

“I always can help the team and I love when I play in the middle.

“I want to continue to play at this level for the rest of the season. I always want to help the team with goals.

“I hope to score more until the end of the season. It’s very important for me and the team.”

Özil played his first game since damaging his knee ligaments during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in October against Stoke City last Saturday.
