Chelsea ace nearing Stamford Bridge exit as Galatasaray ‘confident’ of signing ex-England international

Galatasaray have not given up hopes of signing Chelsea’s out of favour centre-back Gary Cahil next month.

The Lions were linked with a move for the ex-England international over the summer, however, Cahill opted to remain at Chelsea to battle for a starting place.

However, Cahill has been unable to secure his place in Mauricio Sarri’s starting eleven this season and looks set to leave the club when his contract expires next summer.

A source close to Galatasaray has revealed to Turkish-Football.com that Galatasaray will try and sign Cahil for free in January.

Per the source, Lions chiefs are confident that Chelsea will be willing to sell the 32-year-old next month in order to offload him from their wage bill.

Galatasaray failed to replace Jason Denayer over the summer after his loan deal expired. Manager Fatih Terim has subsequently been forced into fielding 18-year-old Ozan Kabak this season.

The Istanbul giants are planning major revisions to their squad following a turbulent start to the 2018/19 campaign. Galatasaray finds themselves in fourth place in the Turkish Super Lig and have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

Cahill has played just seven games for Chelsea this season and has just 21 minutes of Premier League football.
