Sivasspor manager Roberto Carlos believes that Chelsea defender Filipe Luis reminds him of Italian left-back Paolo Maldini.

Luis joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for £17.6 million this summer. The 29-year-old fullback has 11 caps for Brazil.

“Filipe Luis is a brilliant player. He reminds me of Maldini’s style, a classical style, slower,” Carlos said.

“Marcelo does what I did in my time attacking and defending all the time. Marcelo improved his defending skills.

“He did a lot for Real Madrid and so much for the national team as well. In my opinion he is the best left back in football nowadays.”

Carlos is the second most-capped player in Brazil national team history and won two Copa America titles, as well as World Cup 2002.

The former Real Madrid star was appointed manager of Sivasspor on a two-year deal last summer.

The Yiğidolar who finished last season far beyond expectations in fifth place, currently find themselves in 17th place with only one win in nine matches this season.
