Galatasaray president Duygun Yarsuvat has confirmed that Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season.

Yarsuvat also claimed that despite being linked with a number of Premier League clubs the only team Sneijder would have considered was Chelsea to work alongside Jose Mourinho.

“Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season. He could have been beside Jose Mourinho, that is the only club he would have joined. But he’s happy at Galatasaray,” Yarsuvat told GS TV.

Sneijder and Mourinho helped secure a historic treble winning season for Italian giants Inter Milan – winning the Serie A, Copa Italia and Champions League titles.

The 29-year-old playmaker joined Galatasaray from Inter in January 2013 and has a total of 28 goals and 14 assists in 86 games for the Lions.

Sneijder has won the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup and Turkish Süper Cup since his arrival in Turkey.

Galatasaray are currently 3rd in the league with 42 points from 19 games this season.
