Chelsea & Man Utd made bids for La Liga star says Ahmet Bulut

Barcelona team news

Chelsea and Manchester United both made offers for Arda Turan over the summer transfer window before his £27 million move to Barcelona.

Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut revealed that United did make an offer for the Turkish international star.

“Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave,” he told Turkish publication AMK.

“I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time.”

Bulut also stated that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was disappointed that he was unable to sign the bearded winger over the summer.

“Mourinho told me he was upset that I did not sell Arda to him,” he added.

Turan ended up joining Barcelona on a five-year deal despite knowing that he would have to sit on the sidelines for six months as the reigning La Liga champions had been hit with a FIFA transfer ban.

The 28-year-old has years of experience playing in the La Liga and has lifted every domestic title in Spain as well as the Europa League and European Super Cup.

The bearded winger also played a key role in Turkey booking a place in the European Championships after maintaining an 11 game unbeaten run.
