Chelsea star Eden Hazard remained in Turkey despite coup

Chelsea star Eden Hazard remained in Turkey despite the coup d’etat attempt to attend Samuel Eto’o’s charity ball in Antalya.

Hazard arrived in Turkey on the same day as the coup attempt but stayed the next day for Eto’o’s event.

Eto’o’s charity match which was set to be played today at the Antalya, Arena stadium but was called off due to the incidents unfolding elsewhere in the country.

The charity dinner did however, go ahead and several star players that Eto’o invited also stayed on for the evening – including Hazard.

The Chelsea star was spotted posing alongside Peter Okoye at the event.

The Belgium intentional star returned to rejoin his Chelsea team-mates this morning via a private jet that set off from Antalya.

Eto’o’s charity game was set to mark the 10th year anniversary of his charitable foundation the “Fundacion Privada Samuel Eto’o”.

Several Barcelona stars including Lionel Messi, Neymar, Iniesta and Arda Turan were expected in Turkey for the match.

The match will now be played at a later date.
