Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas has surpassed Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil for assists made in the year 2016.
The duo have been compared to each other ever since Chelsea signed the former Arsenal midfielder from Barcelona.
Ozil looked set to smash Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record of 20 when he racked up 20 assists by the end of December. However, since the turn of the year the 27-year-old has recorded just two assists in the league.
Fabregas set up three goals during Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth earlier today putting ahead of the Germany international in terms of assists in 2016.
Ozil would have had more had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates. The 27-year-old man star has also created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
