Chelsea stars Radamel Falcao, Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois and Felipe Luis will not get the chance to face former Atletico Madrid teammate Arda Turan on Tuesday.
All five players have played together at Atleti in the past and with the exception of Falcao the other four were part of the La Liga winning side that reached the 2014 Champions League final.
Luis, Turan and Costa remain close friends. Costa recently revealed that he misses Turan’s food especially his kebabs: “He introduced us all to Turkish food. I really liked his kebabs and when he had food everybody would hover around his house for some.”
Turan would have become the sixth former Atleti star to join Chelsea had he signed for the Blues this summer. The bearded winger was linked with a move to England but ended up joining Barcelona instead.
The Turkish international joined Barcelona on a £24 million transfer from Atleti a fortnight ago but will be unable to play against the Blues due to the Champions League winners transfer ban.
Barcelona can sign players but are unable to register them for another six months.
The La Liga title holders lost 2-1 against Manchester United on Saturday and must beat Chelsea if they are to remain in the competition.
Barcelona take on Chelsea on Tuesday at the FedExField stadium in their third International Championship Cup game.
