Chelsea transfer news: Blues suffer blow in race for €15m Uruguay ace

Chelsea have suffered a blow in their quest to sign Fernando Muslera. The Galatasaray goalkeeper has spoken about his future at the Istanbul based club.

According to the Turkish outlet Ajanspor, the Uruguay international is keen to remain at Galatasaray. The 30-year-old went onto say that he will accept a contract extension if the Lions offer one.

Muslera’s contract with Galatasaray expires at the end of next season.

“If an offer to extend my contract is offered to me, I will accept it,” Muslera told Ajanspor.

“I feel at home here and nobody wants to leave their home.”

Turkish-Football recently revealed that Chelsea are interested in signing Muslera this summer. The south London based club made an enquiry in January for the former Lazio star and were prepared to offer €15 million.

Meanwhile the Telegraph have reported that Muslera is on a three-man shortlist as a potential replacement for Asmir Begovic.

Muslera has been at Galatasaray for six seasons and joined the Istanbul based club as part of an part-exchange deal for Lorik Cana.

The experienced keeper has started every Turkish league game this season, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 29 goals.
