Chelsea transfer news: Man Utd, Arsenal & Tottenham join race for Calhanoglu

Chelsea have been closely linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu but could face competition from their Premier League rivals in the the race to sign the attacking midfielder.

A source close to the player recently revealed to Turkish-Football that Chelsea made an offer for Calhanoglu.

Bayer will however, keep Calhanoglu at the club until the summer and will not allow him to leave in January.

The source revealed that the Blues have been keeping close tabs on Calhanoglu but that they are not the only Premier League side pursuing the Turkish international.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have also been scouting the 23-year-old this season.

Calhanoglu has not received offers from the three clubs mentioned but they have been monitoring him and are expected to continue doing so over the domestic and Champions League campaign.

The attacking midfielder renowned for his set-piece taking ability has been in great form for Bayer this season and bagged a brace over the weekend.

Bayer ended up beating Hertha Berlin 3-1 and Calhanoglu took his goal tally to nine in all competitions.

Calhanoglu has netted six times in the league and has also provided six assists in the league and Champions League combined.

Bayer moved into 8th place in the Bundesliga following the win and take on Borussia Monchengladbach next.

The German giants also booked a place in the Champions League Last 16 against Atletico Madrid.

Bayer signed Calhanoglu for €14.5 million from HSV in 2014 and are under no obligation to sell the star midfielder as they have another two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal.

Calhanoglu is keen on playing Premier League football in the future but wants to see out the current season at Bayer before making any decisions on where he will play next.
