Club director responds to reports that Man United star is nearing a move to Besiktas

Besiktas have been closely linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Club press officer Metin Albayrak confirmed interest in Fellaini and revealed that he has been scouted.

“Transfer plans never end, we are always working,” Albayrak was quoted by Turkish-Football as saying:

“Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him.”

Black Eagles sport director Ali Naibi played down the reports claiming that there is nothing concrete yet in terms of talks over Fellaini.

“Reports in England claim we are interested in Fellaini because his brother has come to watch a couple of our games but I must be honest and say there is nothing concrete with the player or Manchester United,” Besiktas’ director of sport Ali Naibi told Calciomercato.

A source close to Besiktas has revealed to Turkish-Football that the club are considering entering direct talks with Fellaini in January if a new contract is agreed by then.

Fellaini faces an uncertain future at the Manchester based outfit.

The Belgium international has under 12 months remaining on his contract but has yet to sign a new deal.

The 29-year-old has however, held talks over a new deal with United according to the Metro.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho ruled out a summer exit for Fellaini following an offer from Galatasaray.

The powerful midfielder is however, only likely to be offered a one-year deal due to the clubs policy for players aged 30 and above.

Fellaini would be able to lock down a lucrative long term contract in Turkey.
