Cüneyt Çakır to officiate Fenerbahce v Galatasaray derby

Cüneyt Çakır will officiate the Intercontinental derby between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray on Sunday March 8 at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium.

Bahattin Duran and Tarık Ongun have been appointed as assistant referees while Özgüç Türkalp will be the forth assistant.

Çakır has officiate eight derby’s between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray and has shown 11 red cards in these games.

Fener have have received six of the 11 red cards shown while Galatasaray have received five.

Çakır became the first Turkish referee in 40 years to officiate at a World Cup this summer, following in the footsteps of Doğan Babacan who was assigned to officiate the 1974 World Cup.

The 37-year-old is the most experienced Turkish referee at International and European level.

The Turkish referee averages 4.03 yellow cards per game, 0.19 red cards per game and 0.2 penalties per game.
