Defender could be set for Premier League return just one season after leaving Liverpool following Swansea enquiry

Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel could be set for a return to the Premier League according to reports in the British press.

The Daily Mail report that Swansea City have made an enquiry to Fenerbahce for the Slovakian centre-back.

Per the source, the Swans are keen on adding experience to their defensive line.

The Yellow Canaries will be keen to recoup most of the £5 million they paid Liverpool for Skrtel last season.

Srktel left Liverpool last summer and has gone onto establish himself as a star player for Fenerbahce.

The 32-year-old does have another two-years remaining on his contract but Fenerbahce are facing pressure from Financial Fair Play (FFP) and must sell players this summer.

The experienced defender was a first team regular for Fenerbahce this season scoring three times and providing two assists in 49 appearances in all competitions this season.

Skrtel has years of Premier League football under his belt having spent eight years at Liverpool.

Fenerbahce finished the season in third-place and will compete in the Europa League next season.
