Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba has admitted that the race to become Süper Lig goal king is very competitive this season.

“I am competing against excellent strikers, I would love to score 25 goals this season or more and will try my hardest to do so but team success is what is most important not individual records,” Ba was quoted as saying by Fanatik.

The Senegalese international has 10 Süper Lig goals and currently trails Galatasaray forward Burak Yılmaz and Akhisar striker Gekas who have 11 goals.

Trabzonspor goalscorer Oscar Cardozo and Bursaspor hitman Fernandao lead the Süper Lig scoring charts with 12 goals each.

Beşiktaş take on Rizespor away from home on Sunday. The Black Eagles have the best away record in the league having won eight out of their nine games on the road this season.

The Eagles have scored 29 league goals in total this season. The Süper Lig’s highest scoring team is currently Bursaspor on 36 goals.
