Demba Ba wanted to take final penalty against Liverpool says Bilic [divider]

Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba wanted to take the last penalty against Liverpool in the Europa League Round of 32 according to Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian manager however, insisted that Ba take the first penalty.

“Demba Ba told me he wanted to take the last penalty but I told him he is our best penalty taker so he should go first and he agreed,” Bilic was quoted as saying on Eurosport TR.

The Senegalese international took the first spot kick for the Black Eagles and scored.

Beşiktaş scored all five of their penalties, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren missed the only spot kick of the evening which gave the Black Eagles a ticket to the Last 16.

The Turkish giants will now play Belgium side Club Brugge in the next round of the competition.

Ba has scored a total of 23 goals in 31 appearances for the Black Eagles in all competitions this season.

The Senegalese international is the leading scorer in the Süper Lig alongside Bursaspor forward Fernandao with 14 goals.

Ba is also the Black Eagles leading scorer in European competition this season.
