Yıldırım Demirören should never have been made Turkish Football Federation president according to former Galatasaray vice-president Adnan Öztürk.

“Ünal Aysal had lost all credibility to lead in my opinion,” Öztürk said.

“However, where we really disagreed was regarding the Turkish Football Federation elections.

“I made it very clear that I was totally against Yıldırım Demirören being elected and wanted the club to vote for Ata Aksu.

“Now after the elections he started talking about Ata Aksu but wouldn’t give his signature to back him.

“That is when we started drifting apart.”

Ünal Aysal has since been replaced by Duygun Yavrusuvat as Galatasaray president.

Yıldırım made the heavily criticised for making foreign player ruling even harsher, implementing the Passolig system and giving Fatih Terim a five-year contract as Turkish national team manager.

Turkey are currently last in Euro 2016 qualification Group A.
