The leak reveals that Arsenal paid £36m for Ozil, less than the £42.5m fee reported by the club.

The North London based side also pay a further €1m to Real Marid for every season they qualify for the Champions League. The clause is in place for Ozil’s first six years at the club, which amounts to €2m to date and cannot exceed €6m.

The La Liga giants also secured a sell-on clause that states that they would receive 33 per cent of any profit made relative to the initial transfer fee.

Arsenal missed out on topping the Premier League table after suffering a 1-0 loss against Chelsea in the London derby yesterday.

Mesut Ozil’s 100th game for the north London based club ended in a disappointing defeat. Arsenal have now slipped down to third place and are just two points ahead of their bitter rivals Tottenham.
