Dortmund CEO denies being in talks with Man Utd over Gundogan

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has stated that the club are not in talks with Manchester United over the transfer of İlkay Gündoğan.

United have been closely linked with the 24-year-old midfielder recently but Watzke has denied being in talks with the Premier League giants.

“With Manchester United there is zero contact,” he told Sky Deutschland on Saturday.

Dortmund have been reluctant to let go of their star man whose contract comes to an end in 2016 and offered a contract extension until 2019 worth €6.5 million per-season.

Gündoğan has however, been unwilling to strike a deal with his current club.

Dortmund are unwilling to lose Gündoğan on a free contract as they did with Robert Lewandowski.

The Bundesliga outfit could enter talks with other clubs in the summer if the 24-year-old does not agree to a new deal by then.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been closely linked with Gündoğan.

The Germany international of Turkish origin missed a large part of the season due to injury but has since recovered and returned to the starting lineup.
