Dortmund midfielder ruled out for rest of season

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Şahin has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Turkish international has not featured for the Bundesliga outfit since the 3-0 win over Schalke on February 28.

The tendon injury in his groin, which he sustained during the Schalke derby has not healed.

Şahin will miss his sides German Cup final against Wolfsburg on May 30, and will not play again under the management of Jürgen Klopp at Dortmund.

The 25-year-old missed most of the first half of the season with injury however, the Turkish international had been in impressive form in 2015.

Şahin was selected as the best performing central midfielder in Europe since the turn of the year.

The Turkish international scored 100 in the CIES Football Observatory’s latest performance rankings.

Şahin made his debut for Borussia Dortmund aged just 16, becoming the youngest player to appear in the Bundesliga.
