Dortmund star ruled out of Liverpool clash

Manchester City star

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will miss the Europa League quarter-final first-leg game with injury according to the Daily Star.

Gundogan has been out for a month with a foot injury, and missed both legs of the Round of 32 tie against Tottenham.

The 24-year-old could however, recover in time for the return leg at Anfield the following week.

Dortmund will however, have Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all available against the Reds.

The Germany international of Turkish origin has returned to training but was ruled out of Dortmund’s 3-2 victory over Werder Bremen over the weekend.

Gundogan has been closely linked with Liverpool according to the Daily Star newspaper.

The Reds will however, face competition from Manchester City whose sporting director Txiki Begiristain has already met with Gundogan’s uncle and agent Ilhan Gundogan regarding a summer deal.

Dortmund go into the game in great form having won 15 of their 17 games in 2016 – drawing the other two.
