A source close to the player told Turkish-football.com that the Potters were close to loaning Van Persie however, after a meeting between the agent and Fenerbahce an agreement was reached for the Dutch star to stay at the club.

Van Persie still has another two-years remaining on his contract and Fenerbahce will play Champions League football this season.

The 32-year-old is expected to start for the Yellow Canaries against Monaco in the 3rd qualifying round next week.
